The Contract Tarot is a comprehensive deck designed to combine a multitude of elements so you can derive something different from each card and each reading.

You can read this deck like any other tarot deck as if follows the same fundamental format. As with most decks these days, each suit has been renamed and is rendered a little differently and the court cards have their own identity, too. The Major Arcana runs the same from Fool to World and the Minor Arcana runs from 1-10.

There are additional elements in these cards. You can find all the information you need through a Google search or through books that reference Kabbalah, numerology, color psychology, Feng Shui, Futhark runes, astrology, the Hebrew alphabet, the Thoth Tarot and other semiotics.

Each of the suits has a separate theme represented by coherent and consistent images. The things that don’t change as the suit progresses from 1-10 and through the Court Cards is significant.

Each card measures 2.75 x 4.75 inches. There are 78 cards in this deck.

Description

The Contract Tarot is a comprehensive deck designed to combine a multitude of elements so you can derive something different from each card and reading.

You can read this deck like any other tarot deck as if follows the same fundamental format. As with most decks these days, each suit has been renamed and is rendered a little differently and the court cards have their own identity, too. The Major Arcana runs the same from Fool to World and the Minor Arcana runs from 1-10.

Let’s run through the suits and the court cards.

  • The typical Tarot suits are cups, pentacles, swords, and wands. In The Contract Tarot, these become Cups – Virtues & Cosmic Principles; Pentacles – Gemstones; Swords – Arts & Sciences; Wands – Runes.
  • The typical Court cards are page, knight, queen, and king. In The Contract Tarot, these become Page – Inspiration; Knight – Aspiration; Queen – Intuition; King – Wisdom.

There are additional elements in these cards. You can find all the information you need through a Google search or through books that reference Kabbalah, numerology, color psychology, Feng Shui, Futhark runes, astrology, the Hebrew alphabet, the Thoth Tarot and other semiotics.

  • In the Majors, you will find a Lenormandesque-type verse on the twenty-two cards. You’ll also see a reference to the Tree of Life path (Kabbalah), a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, astrological symbol, and elemental symbol. Some of the majors contain a Thoth Tarot reference, as well. If you want to look a little deeper, the numerological value of each card and the colors on each card are significant as is some of the imagery.
  • In the Minors, you will note a distinct color to each of the suits: Virtues & Cosmic Principles is blue; Gemstones is green; Arts & Sciences is yellow, and the Runes are red. There is significance to the color of each of these suits. There is also significance in the imagery of each card. You will also find reference to the Tree of Life (Kabbalah), astrology, planetary symbols, elemental symbols and, once again the numerological value of each card has some importance.

Each of the suits has a separate theme represented by coherent and consistent images. The things that don’t change as the suit progresses from 1-10 and through the Court Cards is significant.

  • In Virtues & Cosmic Principles, the CUP is represented by the C-V-P. There is also significance to the spiral flowers, the white roses, and the ivy. Keywords appear on each of the cards.
  • In the Gemstones, it is a Chinese coin that becomes the gemstone and within it is a different gemstone per card. There is also a little verse (like a fortune cookie) behind each of gemstone and there is reference to Feng Shui in the toad and the turtle found at the base of each card. Keywords appear on each of the cards.
  • In the Arts & Sciences, a scientific beaker takes center stage. Behind that is a sculptural work depicting swords, masks (comedy and tragedy) sit either side of the beaker and there are a musical score and a genetic profile behind it all. You’ll note that there is a little verse that runs up and down the sides of the beaker and sometimes at the base of the image inside the beaker.
  • In the Runes, you will see what appears to be a keyhole and the images appear within the keyhole (most of the time). With the exception of the Court cards, there are keywords on each of the Minors (1-10). Runes appear on either side of the keyhole.

Each card measures 2.75 x 4.75 inches. There are 78 cards in this deck.

Use them on their own or in addition to a different deck to enhance your readings.
